Yet another successful food making event~!
We all love food don't we? :)
This time around, we have our attention centered around making sushi. With one of our class rooms and the pantry area, we created our masterpieces. The chef of the day was Matsuoka sensei. And she was accompanied by 10 enthusiastic students who were very interested in the sushi culture.
Everyone had the opportunity to roll a sushi. Some of them even brought their creations home.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we were not able to hold more than 1 session. But nevertheless, we had great fun learning.
The following are pictures taken during the event. For more pictures and detailed steps on how to make makizushi and temaki, please refer to our facebook Sushi making event photo album.
And for those who were not able to join us for this event, please keep a lookout for future ones!

LUNCH PARTY AT WATAMI 9th MAY 2010
On Sunday, 'Lunch at Watami' at [The Central] was a highly responsive and successful event!
Everyone was seated in such a way that no one from their direct opposite or side is from the same country. This allows the participants to actively speak in the language they are learning, be it Japanese, English or Chinese.
Following, the scrumptious feast was served a course at a time. The platter included sushi, okonomiyaki, pizza, udon, dessert and much more. Food was well prepared and the staff were very friendly.
Aoba places high emphasis on creating a pleasant cultural exchange environment for our students to have the chance to speak and practice their Japanese language skills with native speakers. For those who unfortunately did not have the opportunity to join us this time, please keep yourself updated with Aoba's facebook or blog for more details on future events and activities!
Here are the lovely pictures of Aoba's students and their Japanese friends during the event~
BOWLING COMPETITION 28 FEB 2010
Aoba organized its first "Bowling Competition" on the last day of the Lunar New Year. We thought it was a good idea to have some exercise to shed off those extra kilos gained over the long festive period with all the feasting and drinking !
Teachers, students and friends of Aoba pitted their skills against each other. Look at them in action :
Congratulations ! The winning team has emerged !
Let’s see what the winning team has to say about the event :
本当にいいイベントでした。皆とても楽しんでいました。
一番良かったことは、皆がこのイベントを通して仲良くなれたことです。また第2回戦をしましょう!
Thank you for planning the event.Everyone enjoyed very much. It is really great that everyone can interact through this competition. Let’s plan the next competition!
It was a great opportunity to go bowling with aoba teachers and students! We had a lot of fun competing against the other teams and finally became the winner of great prize!!Even though our Japanese is not good enough, we look forward to having such event outside of class again.
This event was a great opportunity for the students and teachers of AOBA to get together in a relaxed
and casual atmosphere. Friendly competition between the various participating teams also helped to create a fun and exciting afternoon. We would definitely take part in this again the next time!
